ILOILO CITY (PNA) - Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) provides new medical benefits to the World War II veterans and those Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) members who have been honorably discharged from service, according to PVAO regional director Janette Faderan.
Faderan said that the benefits were on top of those being enjoyed by the living WWII and the AFP members.
She said that the PVAO now provides medical assistance worth P16,000 for cataract operation, P5,000 for denture, P20,000 for orthopedic, and P2,000 for each hernia mesh to the WWII veterans and the AFP members.
She said that the assistance could be availed in the contracted hospitals of PVAO, which are in Iloilo City, the West Visayas State University and the Western Visayas Medical Center.
The veterans and AFP members should present their identification cards to the hospital billing section in order to avail of the benefits.
Likewise, for those being admitted in the hospital free ward for ordinary diseases aside from those mentioned they could inform the PVAO office so that they could be given certification that their benefit intended for ward payment would rather be used for their medicines or laboratory tests.
Children of veterans who have been suffering from chronic nervous breakdown and paralysis would also be given medical assistance by PVAO. (PNA)
