ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) – The Police Regional Office (PRO) – 6 has cited Roxas City mayor Angel Alan B. Celino during its flag raising and awarding ceremony last Oct. 24 at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City.
The Certificate of Recognition was received by Executive Assistant Jericho Celino, the mayor's son from National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Commissioner Luisito Palmera and PRO – 6 director C/Supt. Cipriano E. Querol, Jr.
The mayor failed to receive the award after he suffered a minor injury on his left shoulder following a vehicular accident on his way to Iloilo City to attend the awarding activity.
PRO – 6 has recognized Celino’s creation of an elite police force without any cost to the PNP which according to the PNP “is a big boost in the enhancement of the capability of the Roxas City Police Station (RCPS).”
The initiative is considered a landmark in law enforcement and crime prevention in Western Visayas. Early this year, a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team was created at the RCPS, the only elite and fully equipped police force in the region.
Firearms and gears worth P8-million were also truned over by the city government to the SWAT team last June. (By Alex A. Lumaque/JCM/PIA 6 Capiz)
